CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Rey
Age: 20
Canon: Star Wars
Canon Point: The Rise of Skywalker, just after healing Kylo Ren and flying away from Kef Bir
Character Information: Wookieepedia link
Personality: ***CONTAINS RISE OF SKYWALKER SPOILERS***
Rey spent most of her life not knowing who she was, or where she came from. Her earliest memory is of her parents giving her to Unkar Plutt and flying away from Jakku, leaving her behind. She carried on through a difficult life, bolstered by the hope that her family would one day return for her. She made it her mission to discover who her parents were, and why they left without her. Even though they left her in such terrible conditions, she couldn't bring herself to blame them, or think of them as bad people. At first, Kylo Ren tried to convince her they were junk traders who sold her for booze money, but she refused to believe him. The truth ended up being that her father was Emperor Palpatine's son, and they left her on Jakku in the hopes she would stay under Palpatine's radar. Rey was horrified to learn of her heritage, but proud of her parents and buoyed by the confirmation that they did what they did to protect her. A fine example of Rey's hope and tenacity paying off.
Rey fell into the action of the war against the First Order by chance, or perhaps by fate. On the one hand, she was reluctant to leave Jakku, thinking there was still a chance that her parents would come back for her, but on the other, she was excited and ready to become a part of something bigger. She had only heard about the Force as a legend, something she half believed in, once again, out of hope for something bright in the galaxy. She never imagined that she could have the power to access it. She didn't understand the Force at first, perhaps because she knew so little about it. She initially thought about it as a tool, or a weapon, that the Jedi of legend used to manipulate the world around them. It is not until Luke dies that Rey truly dedicates herself to understanding all the intricacies of the Force.
Once Rey sets her mind to something, it's hard to sway her from her course. She was able to convince Luke to teach her by continuing to pester him and follow him around Ahch To for days on end. She'll weather harsh conditions and stubborn mentors, pushing herself to her limits to achieve her goals. Though Rey cares deeply about her friends, as the search for the Sith Wayfinder went on, Rey's pursuit of her goals strained her relationships with even those closest to her. Her relentless quest for clues led her to fight with, and later abandon, the people who were trying to help her.
Rey's Force training has given her purpose, and taught her to believe in something bigger than herself. She may push herself to extremes trying to master the teachings of the Jedi that came before her, but in doing so she proves her determination to become a better version of herself. When she stabs Kylo/Ben during their fight on Kef Bir, she is horrified that she's gone too far off the deep end. At that point, all she wants to do is run away from everything, from the war, from the Force, from her life and her choices. This is the point she will be coming into Ryslig from.

ExcitablePassionate — Rey's face lights up with joy when Han Solo explains that all the legends she'd heard about-- the Force, Luke Skywalker, all of it-- are real. Though a decently sized portion of her is reluctant to leave Jakku, she joins the quest to return BB-8 to the Resistance with excitement and dedication. Everything she feels, she feels strongly, with one hundred percent of her heart, mind, and soul. She does not do things by halves.Open-Minded — The galaxy Rey covers from is full of not only humans, but sentient life of all shapes, colors, and sizes. It can be common for humans to fall into anti-alien beliefs and prejudices, but Rey doesn't judge a person by what they look like, but instead by their behavior and the content of their character. Though all thought Ben Solo was lost to the Dark Side, Rey opened herself up to him and believed he could be redeemed... Until he betrayed her.
Kind — One of the first times we see Rey, she is walking through the Jakku desert when she comes across another scavenger capturing a lost droid, BB-8. Rey frees the droid, fixes his broken antenna, and allows him to follow her home. She shows the same kindness to other people and droids, from the Resistance members, to villagers on Pasaana, to the droid D-O.
Protective — When Rey first meets Finn, she knows nothing about him other than the fact that he's wearing BB-8's master's jacket. Assuming he stole it, she attacks Finn immediately. When she learns that Finn is not the bad guy, but that he and BB-8 are being hunted by the First Order, she doesn't hesitate to help them get off Jakku.
Self-centered — Rey doesn't always consider the impact her actions have on other people. During her training on Ahch-To, she was constantly destroying things, creating more and more work for the poor, beleaguered caretakers. When her quest to find and stop Palpatine consumes her, she ends up hurting (literally) Finn, the one person she's been tied to since the beginning of her journey. She is blinded by her own ambitions and can't see how she is behaving until it's too late.
